Childcare

Woods Hole Child Center

Woods Hole Child Center (WHCC), located on Harbor Hill Road, is one of Falmouth’s oldest continuously operating preschools. A cooperative since 1943, it accepts children 2 years, 9 months old to pre-kindergarten. WHCC’s academic year program emphasizes socialization and imaginative play, both indoors and out. The theme-based curriculum reflects the interests of the children and includes daily art, music, science and language activities. WHCC offers flexible scheduling, a lunch program until 2 PM, local field trips and frequent guest visitors.

The WHCC Summer Program (late June through early August) is an introduction to science for young children, ages 3-7. Children are grouped into either the younger or older class. In this program, children explore their natural environment through age appropriate science lessons, art activities, field trips and outdoor play. Each week there is a school-wide focus, as the children explore plants, ocean creatures, insects, pets, sand and water.

For more information and registration forms visit: woodsholechildcenter.org. To arrange a school visit, call 508-548-1773.

Woods Hole Daycare Cooperative

The WHDCC offers full and part-time care for children 21 months – kindergarten, and emphasizes a balance of play and planned curriculum including science, Spanish, yoga, music and Mother Goose on the Loose enrichment activities and field trips to the Woods Hole Library and other neighborhood attractions.

Even if your child is years away from attending the school, you can get your name added to the wait list (no fees, no obligations). Popular among WHOI staff.

Sandwich Montessori School

Sandwich Montessori School has been firmly established for more than 20 years and is dedicated to providing a quality educational experience for children from three months through kindergarten.  Their multi-age classrooms are full of joy and excitement for learning and well-prepared with the materials students need to excel in learning at all developmental stages.

The two-acre campus on Cotuit Road is nestled on a wooded lot with the peacefulness of a natural setting.  The Cottage, with two classrooms and a large outdoor area provides learning and growing space for preschool children.  The spacious Carriage House is home to the learning environments for babies and toddlers with an additional serene and stimulating outdoor space, designed to meet their needs.

Each classroom is fully equipped with Montessori materials and reflects the caring and well-prepared environment in which the teachers respectfully guide and follow the child.  Teachers integrate nature and outdoor learning on a regular basis, and are dedicated to learning in the classrooms without walls as they extend the educational experiences into the outdoors.

The Childcare Network

Whether you are a brand new parent, just exploring child care options, a parent of a child who needs after school care or someone who is looking for certain types of child care providers, Child Care Network is here to help. Services are available to families of all income levels. Child Care Network’s Information and Referral Services are free, confidential, and available in languages other than English. They offer referrals to licensed and legally operating child care programs. They do not make recommendations. Families are encouraged to contact the Department of Early Education and Care, the state licensing agency, for a compliance history.
