Insurance

There are two options for getting car (and home, etc.) insurance in MA. Prices range widely.
1) Choose an independent agent/agency who represents a bunch of companies and they will send you quotes from multiple companies.
Just a few examples in Falmouth: Calfee Insurance (www.calfeeinsurance.com), Hub International (www.hubinternational.com), Northeast Insurance Agency (www.neinsure.com),
2) Choose an insurance company that has their own agents, and they will give you a quote.
Examples: Progressive (www.progressive.com), Liberty Mutual (www.libertymutual.com)
For Joint Program Students: Car insurance in Woods Hole is considerably cheaper than in Boston and Cambridge, but you must prove residency. (You should know that if you primarily live elsewhere but try to save money by registering and insuring your car in Woods Hole using your WHOI address, and then you make a claim, and your insurance company finds out that your car is not really garaged primarily on Cape, you're in trouble and they are not obligated to pay your claim at all.)

Registry of Motor Vehicles

For a Massachusetts ID, a driver’s license and/or vehicle registration you should visit the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. Check their webpage for complete information, requirements and office hours. http://www.mass.gov/rmv/
